Hymn of Prayer and Mission

Hymn of Prayer and Missionis a deeply personal prayer set to music by Maryknoll missionary priest Father Delos A. Humphrey, Jr.(“Uncle Bud”), with music developed and arranged by his niece, pianist, vocalist, and recording artist Peggy Duquesnel. Created as a musical gift celebrating Uncle Bud’s 100th year, the song carries a powerful message of faith, love, compassion, peace, justice, and Christian mission. The recording begins intimately with Peggy singing lead vocals at the piano, then gradually builds into a warm and uplifting choral and string arrangement featuring Peggy and Tina Aldana on women’s and children’s choir vocals and Bob Moore on men’s choir vocals. Peggy arranged the strings, while Andre Mayeux contributed additional instrumental programming and provided mixing and mastering.

The recording marks the debut of Joyspring Worship, a new Christian worship music group collaboration between Peggy Duquesnel and Tina Aldana, created to share music that draws hearts into prayer, renews hope, and strengthens faith. At its heart, Hymn of Prayer and Mission is both a prayer of surrender and a call to mission, inviting us to open our hearts to the Spirit and go forth with love, peace, and justice wherever we go.

“Recording Hymn of Prayer and Mission has been one of the most meaningful musical experiences of my life. To take my Uncle Bud’s heartfelt prayer and simple melody and transform it into a recording that can be shared with people around the world has been both an honor and a profound gift. I poured my heart into every note, arrangement, and vocal, with the hope that listeners will not only hear the music, but feel the love, faith, and mission behind the prayer.” — Peggy Duquesne
